‘Disturbing’ Wembley pitch in poor state for Spurs’ Champions League clash

The Wembley pitch was still not up to scratch ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League clash with PSV.

The groundstaff at the national stadium have been working tirelessly to repair the playing surface after it was left in an awful condition following Spurs’ game with Manchester City last Monday, which was played 24 hours after an NFL game.

PSV coach Mark van Bommel described it as “outright disturbing” after his side trained on it on Monday night.

While the surface is in a much improved condition to last week, the touchlines are still bare and bobbly, with a strip running down the middle of the pitch still not repaired.
