QPR boss Mark Warburton has played down reports that Fenerbahce are closing in on a deal to sign Bright Osayi-Samuel.
The winger’s contract expires at the end of the season and Football Insider say Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers have offered him pre-contract agreements but that Fenerbahce are in advanced talks to sign him during this month’s transfer window.
But Warburton appears to be sceptical about reports Osayi-Samuel is heading to Turkey.
Warburton told West London Sport: “Apparently he’s going to Celtic and Fenerbahce and Rangers as well. I hope he’s got a good passport.
“It’s all rumours and it keeps the media going. My only concern is Bright working hard, training well and performing well.”
Warburton’s comments suggest Osayi-Samuel could yet end up plying his trade in Scotland next season.
He has rejected QPR’s offers of a new deal and clearly looks likely to leave Loftus Road.
Warburton will not want to lose him but the R’s will equally want to avoid a situation where Osayi-Samuel walks away at the end of his contract.
They will therefore no doubt look to do a deal with Fenerbahce – or any club – during this month’s transfer window if they can.
If they can’t, the door would be open for a move to Glasgow in the summer.
