QPR trio on course for return at Wigan

QPR have received a boost after Chris Willock, Ethan Laird and Leon Balogun returned to action.

The trio featured for Rangers’ B team in a 2-0 win against Birmingham at Hanwell, where Hamzad Kargbo and Elijah Dixon-Bonner scored for the hosts.

Laird and Balogun played for 45 minutes, while Willock played for 70 minutes, with all three players looking likely to be included in the squad for Saturday’s crucial game at Wigan.

The return of playmaker Willock is good news for the club as he has been troubled by a hamstring problem for much of the season and Rangers have struggled badly without him.

Rangers have also had problems in the full-back positions, so on-loan Manchester United youngster Laird being available again would be a big boost.

Veteran defender Balogun has been out for several months but also appears to be closing in on a return.

Taylor Richards, who has also been unavailable for much of the season, featured in the game too.

However, Ilias Chair, who has been recovering from a hamstring injury, was not involved and it remains to be seen whether he is available for the Wigan game.

With the Latics bottom of the Championship and QPR having sunk towards relegation danger after a terrible run, the match is one Gareth Ainsworth’s side must win.
