QPR lining up late striker deal

QPR boss Mark Warburton is hoping to bring in a centre forward before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night.

West London Sport have been reporting that Rangers are looking to take Andre Gray on loan from Watford.

Gray, 30, previously played under Warburton at Brentford and is currently surplus to requirements at Vicarage Road.

QPR have made an encouraging start to their Championship season but Warburton admits a lack of pace up front is a problem against teams that push up and look to stifle Rangers’ passing game.

They are now trying to push through a deal to sign a striker in the final stages of the transfer window, with Gray seemingly top of the west London club’s wanted list.

“Teams know we want to play football and they’re going to try to stop us playing,” Warburton told West London Sport.

“We need to have that outlet of pace and power in behind, so if that opportunity arises then we’ll move if we can – obviously within the confines of the budget.

“We have had a really good transfer window and done a lot of good business early, but if another opportunity arises then hopefully we can make that move.”
