QPR duo set to sign new deals

QPR duo Elijah Dixon-Bonner and Joe Walsh are set to sign new contracts, West London Sport reports.

Both players are out of contact this summer and have seemingly convinced boss Marti Cifuentes that they should be retained.

They featured in the final-day win at Coventry, where keeper Walsh made his Championship debut for the club.

Walsh, 22, enjoyed a spell on loan at Accrington Stanley earlier in the season and is regarded as a good prospect.

Midfielder Dixon-Bonner, 23, was signed in 2022 after leaving Liverpool and his outing at Coventry was his 16th appearance of the season.

And Cifuentes is convinced that Dixon-Bonner can develop into a useful option for the R’s.

Cifuentes told West London Sport: “He (Dixon-Bonner) is a good player, a young player that can develop a lot and can help us a lot in the future.

“Walshy has worked really hard. I think the loan that he had helped him a lot – he came back with a lot of confidence.”

QPR confirmed on Tuesday that they have taken up an option to extend the contract of defender Jimmy Dunne, who impressed as they successfully stayed in the Championship under Cifuentes.

But fellow defender Osman Kakay has been released at the end of his contract at Loftus Road.
