QPR boss drops major hint about his line-up for Derby County clash

QPR manager Steve McClaren has hinted that he will restore Tomer Hemed to the starting line-up against Derby County on Saturday – a change that could potentially see Nahki Wells drop to the bench.

With Rangers facing three games in the space of a week, McClaren rested Hemed for the win at Reading, bringing him on as a substitute at the Madejski Stadium.

Now it could be Wells who is given a breather when Frank Lampard’s Rams visit Loftus Road.

McClaren told West London Sport: “We have Nahki and Tomer to kind of rotate in a busy week. We’ve got to recover and be ready for Derby now.”

McClaren was delighted with the performance at Reading, where the R’s bounced back after three straight defeats – a run which culminated in a 3-0 loss at Swansea on Saturday.

“I’m absolutely delighted after the result at Swansea. We had a point to prove and we’ve done that,” McClaren said.

“The players were very disappointed after Saturday and they’ve come together, worked so hard for each other.

“They were strong, aggressive, on the front foot and very organised.

“There’s a great togetherness in the squad and it showed.”
