Henry out as Mackie signs QPR deal

Jamie Mackie has signed a one-year contract at QPR, who have confirmed that Karl Henry is being released.

The 31-year-old Mackie, who is in his second spell at Loftus Road, has started 17 league matches for Rangers since returning from Nottingham Forest in 2015.

Henry, whose contract is due to expire this summer, will be leaving after four years at Rangers.

Henry, 34, helped Rangers win promotion to the top flight in 2014 but has not played since December and was out of favour with manager Ian Holloway.

The club have also announced that a number of youngsters are being released.

Academy players Jeremy Arthur, Brandon Barzey, Darnell Goather-Braithwaite, Ruudi Clarke, Gianni Crichlow, Jake Eales, Anthony Folkes, Michael Klass and Rhys Springer-Downes are not being retained.

But midfielder Brandon Comley, 21, and forward Danny Rowe, 20, have been offered new contracts.

Comley, who ended the season on loan at Grimsby Town, has made three first-team appearances for the R’s, all of them as a substitute.

Rowe was signed from Leicester City on a short-term deal in January after impressing while on trial.

And Holloway has given forward Reece Grego-Cox a new one-year contract.

Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Grego-Cox spent time on loan at Newport County this season and came on as a substitute in QPR’s final match of the campaign, at Norwich.
