Holloway issues another warning to striker Sylla

QPR boss Ian Holloway has again threatened to axe Idrissa Sylla if the striker does not prove his commitment to the team.

Holloway recently criticised Sylla for his reaction to being substituted during Rangers’ win at Reading, warning the player he could be booted out of the club if there is any repeat.

And, speaking to reporters after Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Fulham, Holloway again had words of warning for Sylla, who was signed from Anderlecht in August.

“I’ve got to be on top of Sylla and makes sure he does it, because sometimes he doesn’t,” Holloway said.

“Maybe he didn’t have to in France, but he’s going to have to if he wants to play for me.

“And if he ever throws his toys out of the pram or pulls that face again then he won’t be playing for me. Simple as that.

“(Kazenga) LuaLua was coming on at Reading and if you give it all of that that must mean you think you’re better than him. Well that ain’t right.”

In contrast, Holloway has been impressed with James Perch’s reaction to being left out in favour of Darnell Furlong, who kept his place after being selected at Reading because Perch was ill.

Holloway revealed: “Perch said to me: ‘You can’t leave him out gaffer after the way he played – he was brilliant’.

“Perchy went ‘Well done, Darnell.’ That’s what it’s all about for me.”
