QPR demand hefty fee for Dickie

Newcastle, Leeds and Wolves have been told they can expect to pay a hefty transfer fee if they want QPR defender Rob Dickie.

The three Premier League clubs have been linked with the centre-back, who impressed in the Championship last season and has made an excellent start to this campaign.

But QPR manager Mark Warburton has insisted that his club will not sell any players on the cheap.

Warburton told West London Sport: “It’s amazing, as a coach, an owner or a director of football, you read some of these stories about our players being linked with other clubs but the fees listed are nowhere near good enough.

“Rob was a good investment for us. A young centre-half who is getting better and I think he will get better throughout this season.”

Dickie was outstanding again on Saturday at Hull, where he scored in a 3-0 win – his third goal of the season.

And Warburton believes Rangers is the best place for Dickie to be at this stage of his career.

Warburton said: “I have no doubt he will benefit from the types of games we had at Hull where we had to stand up, show character, quality on the ball and defend our goal.

“I think that type of game for Rob Dickie and all the young players is a great learning curve and he is in a good place right now.”
