Lumley exit on the cards and Kelly is ‘frustrated’

Liam Kelly is “frustrated” at being QPR’s second-choice keeper, according to manager Mark Warburton.

The Scotland international, who turns 25 later this month, has not made a first-team appearance this season.

He was signed by Warburton from Livingston in 2019 and was kept out of the side by Joe Lumley before both were leapfrogged by Seny Dieng.

Lumley has been on loan at Doncaster Rovers since 20 November and the Yorkshire club are keen to keep him.

Warburton has told West London Sport that the clubs are in talks over a possible deal for Lumley to stay with Rovers – and added that Kelly is desperate for first-team football.

Lumley’s contract at QPR expires at the end of the season and it appears he has played his last game for the club.

Kelly, meanwhile, faces a continued spell on the bench with Dieng now very much established as Warburton’s first-choice keeper.

“There’s dialogue going on between the two clubs. We’ll see how that one pans out,” Warburton told West London Sport.

“We’re very lucky to have three very talented goalkeepers. You’ve got Liam Kelly who’s working like a demon every single day, frustrated at not playing.

“Joe’s situation will be discussed between Les and the board and their counterparts at Doncaster. Let’s see what emerges from there.”
