Struggling QPR receive much-needed boost ahead of Reading clash

QPR look like they will be able to welcome Toni Leistner back for Tuesday’s game against Reading.

West London Sport reported on Monday that the German defender had returned to training and that Rangers were hopeful he will be back in their squad for the game at the Madejski Stadium.

He suffered a groin injury in training last week which caused him to miss Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Swansea City.

That was Rangers’ third consecutive loss and boss Steve McClaren admitted their failure to take their chances against the Swans was costly.

“I think we had opportunities before them we just weren’t clinical enough,” McClaren told QPR’s website.

“We had opportunities to break but we kept giving the ball away. The final ball wasn’t right and we were always half a yard short on a pass or giving the ball away on the transition when we could have scored. We’re very disappointed at that.

“Swansea scored, we stayed in the game for a long time but in the second half we had two or three very good opportunities but we didn’t get it.

“We are getting punished for mistakes and games are won by sticking the ball in the back of the net and we didn’t do that.”
