QPR looking to seal signing of Aston Villa man

QPR boss Mick Beale hopes Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard allows Jordan Archer to move to Loftus Road.

QPR are among Championship clubs hoping to snap up Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.

Archer, who was on loan at Preston last season, is currently part of Villa’s first-team squad.

But the Premier League club are keen to bring in another striker ahead of the deadline – and that could pave the way for Archer to make another loan move.

Several clubs are keen on him but QPR boss Mick Beale knows him well and is hoping to take him to west London.

Beale was Villa boss Steven Gerrard’s assistant prior to taking over at Loftus Road in the summer and could be reunited with Archer, who is keen to play first-team football.

Speaking earlier this week, Beale made it clear he is looking to add to his squad in the final stages of the transfer window.

“Whoever comes in needs to get in that team,” Beale told West London Sport.

“I have said that all along we have to bring starters in to make us stronger.

“There are one or two players we are talking to but it never moves as fast as you want.

“But I am hopeful we’ll have one new face, maybe two, we’ll just have to wait and see.”
