Could QPR star push for a move in January?

Luke Freeman has cast doubt over his QPR future after admitting his “head was turned” by interest from Middlesbrough during the summer transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Boro will go back in for Freeman in January, when he will have 18 months remaining on his contract – or whether the midfielder will push for a move.

Boro had offers for Freeman, 26, rejected in August and Freeman admitted to West London Sport that a potential move to a side challenging for promotion appealed to him.

“It was difficult. I’d be lying if I said my head wasn’t turned, because to some extent it was,” he said.

“When you’re a player and there’s the possibility of joining a club that might well be in the Premier League next season, of course that’s something you think about.

“Every player wants to play in the Premier League and I’m not going to lie and say it wasn’t on my mind when that (interest in him) was happening.”

But Freeman also insisted he is happy at Rangers, where he has established himself as a key player since arriving from Bristol City in January last year.

“What I can just as honestly say is that I’m very happy at QPR and always have been. I’ve always loved it there,” he said.

“There’s never been a time when I’ve not been happy to be playing for QPR. I’m very happy to be there and have never felt differently.”
