Birmingham City linked with QPR man

Get West London have linked QPR striker Conor Washington with a potential move to Birmingham City.

It comes after a Birmingham fans’ website, Vital Birmingham City, published an article asking whether Washington might be the kind of forward who might succeed at St Andrews.

In the last week Get West London have also linked QPR with Chelsea youngster Tammy Abraham and Exeter’s Ollie Watkins, as well as defender Alex Bruce and veteran keeper Shay Given after they were released by Birmingham and Stoke respectively.

Washington endured a difficult first year at Rangers but enjoyed a purple patch under boss Ian Holloway, who he says helped to restore his confidence.

Speaking at a press conference in March, the Northern Ireland international said: “On his (Holloway’s) first or second day he took me into his office and told me he would have signed me.

“It was a big boost for me after a really disappointing time under the previous manager.

“One of the first things he said to me was ‘nothing has changed, you’ve just lost that little bit of confidence’.

“I totally agreed with him. He got the video guys to put together something. Every goal I’ve scored over the past 15 months was on there.”
