Former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor says Thomas Tuchel should “stop moaning and get on with it” as Chelsea continue to stutter.
Chelsea are eight points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City after drawing 1-1 at home to Brighton on Wednesday night.
Blues boss Tuchel has suggested that injuries and Covid-19 cases have made it impossible for his team to maintain a challenge for the title.
But Agbonlahor insisted that is no excuse given the obvious strength of Chelsea’s squad.
Speaking on Talksport, he said: “I don’t know where to start with Tuchel.
“Chelsea’s bench: Havertz, Alonso, Sarr, Chalobah, Kante, Saul Niguez, Ziyech, Barkley. What’s he moaning about?
“He even said after the game that he can’t play any wing-backs – well play a 4-4-2 for one game.
“I’m sure you’d survive with Azpilicueta right-back, Chalobah, Rudiger, Alonso. Most teams in the Premier League would chop your arm for that defence, so stop moaning and get on with it.”
Chelsea’s injury worries worsened after Reece James and Andreas Christensen had to go off against the Seagulls.
James, filling in at left wing-back in the absence of the sidelined Ben Chilwell, suffered what looked like a nasty hamstring injury.
Andreas Christensen made it to the interval despite a back problem but did not appear for the second half.
