Chelsea boss Tuchel full of praise for Mount

Thomas Tuchel says he has been impressed by Mason Mount’s commitment since taking over as Chelsea boss.

Tuchel left Mount out of his first starting line-up but has since restored him to the side and can see why the midfielder is so highly rated.

“If you work with Mason, you can be sure he gives 100% in every minute,” said Tuchel at a press conference on Wednesday.

“This is the best situation to grow and he has everything that is needed to reach higher levels. I don’t know his limits but we will push and support him.

“The most important thing is that it comes from inside of him. What makes me happy is that he is a nice guy with a positive aura in the dressing room and on the pitch. It is a pleasure to work with him and the whole team.

“I’m delighted to see how we train and how we behave. To see the quality we have in all positions, with two or three guys who can play at a high level. I’m pleased with the behaviour and the atmosphere.”

On a less positive note for Chelsea, they are likely to be without Kai Havertz and Kurt Zouma for Thursday’s derby against Tottenham.

Both players have picked up injuries in training and are doubtful for the game.

“We had two little issues today on the training pitch,” Tuchel revealed.

“Kurt Zouma and Kai Havertz went off the pitch with little issues.

“They (Chelsea’s medical staff) are checking now. They are doing images right now. It’s questionable if they are in the squad tomorrow.”
