Doubts over futures of Chelsea trio

There continues to be speculation over the futures of Chelsea midfielders Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

With contract talks with Mount still yet to result in an agreement, The Times say Bayern Munich – now managed by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel – are keen to sign Mount.

Liverpool have also been linked with the England international, whose contract at Stamford Bridge is due to end in the summer of 2024.

The Times recently reported that Chelsea may have to sell players in order to balance the books after reporting a financial loss of more than £120m.

There are also doubts over Kovacic’s future, with the Evening Standard reporting that Chelsea are yet to open contract talks with the Croatian.

Manchester City are reported to be interested in Kovacic, whose Blues contract also expires next year.

Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek’s time at Stamford Bridge appears to be coming to an end.

Loftus-Cheek, a product of the club’s youth system, has been desperate to establish himself as a first-team regular for Chelsea but has been unable to do so, although he has been involved of late.

Football Insider say the club are ready to sell Loftus-Cheek at the end of the campaign.

Chelsea reportedly have an option to extend Loftus-Cheek’s contract for another year but are apparently not planning to do so, paving the way for the 27-year-old to move on.
