Olivier Giroud reportedly wants to quit English football and join Inter Milan.
Inter are among several clubs to have been linked with the striker, who has been tipped to leave Chelsea during this month’s transfer window.
Aston Villa and Newcastle are also said to be keen on Giroud but the Daily Telegraph say he would rather move to Italy than battle against Premier League relegation.
Giroud is believed to be keen to leave Chelsea and play regular first-team in order to boost his chances of playing for France at this year’s European Championships.
France boss Didier Deschamps has made it clear he believes Giroud should move on.
Deschamps was recently quoted as saying: “I think yes. He knows very well he cannot be content with so little time.
“That is not even speaking about France, that is just on him. It is up to him to see which destination he prefers or chooses.
“I spoke with Olivier during the last international camp. Even during the one before, he already knew what is best for him.
“Olivier is not happy at this moment, based on the little playing time he is getting. It is not his fault; he is suffering
through the situation.
“It is up to him to decide in order to have the best sporting conditions on a daily basis at club level.”
However, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has suggested he will only let Giroud leave if a replacement is brought in.
The Blues have expressed an interest in several strikers and are expected to add to their squad.
Speaking at a press conference after Sunday’s FA Cup win against Nottingham Forest, Lampard said any move had to be in Chelsea’s interests.
