Leeds ‘would love’ to sign Bees star Benrahma

Leeds United have been tipped to target Said Benrahma if Brentford are not promoted to the Premier League along with them.

Bees star Benrahma has been linked with several top-flight clubs, including Chelsea.

And The Athletic’s Phil Hay believes Championship winners Leeds could join a race to sign the Algerian if the Bees do not make it up.

Answering questions on The Athletic’s Q&A, Hay said: “I suspect Leeds would love to have a dabble with Benrahma if Brentford don’t go up.

“Like loads of clubs, they naturally like Benrahma. If Brentford stay down then I wouldn’t rule that one out.”

Brentford are still very much part of the promotion race but missed the chance to go above second-placed West Brom when they lost at Stoke on Saturday.

Thomas Frank’s side must now beat Barnsley and hope neighbours QPR do them a favour at West Brom.

A draw for Brentford would be enough if Rangers manage to win at The Hawthorns.

Boss Frank, incidentally, last week denied reports that Chelsea and Brentford were in talks over Benrahma.

Frank told West London Sport: “I haven’t heard anything from my co-directors of sport.

“If I haven’t been told anything then I don’t think it’s true. It’s a rumour. I think it’s easy to know this isn’t true.”
