‘You can see his quality’ – Potter on Leao as Chelsea are linked with AC Milan star

Chelsea boss Graham Potter says Rafael Leao has obvious quality – but gave nothing else away amid reports linking the AC Milan forward with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

The Portugal international has been hugely impressive in Italy and Chelsea will come up against him again on Tuesday evening when they face Milan in the second of two Champions League group games against them.

Several clubs have been linked with the highly-rated Leao and some reports have suggested that Chelsea are leading the race to sign him.

And Potter was asked at a press conference on the eve of the game at the San Siro about Leao.

Potter replied: “You can see his quality. You can see what he brings. But I think he’s part of a strong unit, a strong team and a strong club and we respect that.”

Potter’s more pressing concern is yet another setback suffered by the injury-plagued N’Golo Kante.

Kante has been out since limping off with a hamstring problem against Tottenham in mid-August and suffered an adverse reaction after recently returning to training.

Potter explained: “It’s not ideal and is disappointing for both him and us. We need to see the extent and then go from there.”
