England showed some promise in a goalless draw with Germany. Here’s how we rated England’s London contingent in the game at Wembley.

Kieran Trippier: 8

Tottenham’s Trippier was very impressive on the right, delivering a number of dangerous crosses and corners into the box. He had a chance to score in only the second minute, shooting into the side netting from an awkward angle, and later created a chance with a clever ball through to Jamie Vardy. He was bright and effective before being replaced with 20 minutes remaining by his former Spurs team-mate Kyle Walker – whose place is under threat if Trippier’s display is anything to go by.

Eric Dier: 7

Captaining the side, Tottenham’s Dier made a sloppy start, giving the ball away on a couple of occasions. But he went on to produce a decent performance which included a number of important clearances, a clever ball through to Ruben Loftus-Cheek shortly before half-time and a second-half interception after John Stones had given the ball away.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: 8

A confident and hugely promising debut. The midfielder, on loan at Crystal Palace from Chelsea, showed his ability from the start, with a cheeky nutmeg and a clever flick in the opening minutes.

He took up excellent positions, always wanted the ball, and his passing was spot on – a couple of highlights being a great ball through to Vardy and a lovely pass to create an opening for Dier.

Danny Rose: 6

A 70-minute outing for the fit-again Tottenham man, who saw plenty of the ball. He sprinted to deliver a first-time cross from the left late in the first half and had a shot blocked in the second.

Tammy Abraham: 6

Another Chelsea youngster making his debut, Abraham’s inexperience inevitably told at times during his hour on the pitch. His touch was often heavy, a couple of stray passes were well over-hit and he struggled to shake off Germany’s much more seasoned defenders.

But the striker also showed his pace and glimpses of his potential – and went close when a deflected shot bounced narrowly wide.
