Millwall manager Rowett signs new contract

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has signed a new contract.

Rowett, 48, almost led the Lions to the Championship play-offs last season – they were in contention until the final day of the campaign.

They finished 11th and ninth in previous seasons since Rowett took over at The Den in October 2019.

“We have had three consistent seasons but we want more,” said Rowett.

“We have built in a really nice progressive way from the day I walked in. We’ve tried to improve what we do every season.”

Rowett had spells in charge of Burton, Birmingham, Derby and Stoke before replacing Neil Harris as Lions boss in 2019.
