Jokanovic insists Sessegnon will not be for sale

Slavisa Jokanovic has insisted that Fulham have no intention of selling Ryan Sessegnon this summer.

It follows reports that Liverpool are closing in on a deal to sign the Whites youngster, who has also been linked with the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal.

Head coach Jokanovic, speaking at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, was responding to continued speculation over the 16-year-old left-back’s future.

“Sessegnon will not be in the transfer market in the summer,” he said.

Jokanovic, who took over at Craven Cottage in December 2015 and has guided Fulham to one place outside the play-off spots, also played down interest in him from West Ham.

West London Sport reported on Tuesday that the Hammers have identified Jokanovic as a possible replacement for Slaven Bilic, whose future as manager at the London Stadium appears to be in some doubt after a troubled season.

Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez and Reading’s Jaap Stam have been linked with the West Ham job in recent weeks.

Jokanovic, who recently signed a new contract, is adamant that his focus is on trying to take Fulham back to the top flight.

“I’ve extended my contract. I am absolutely committed, always. I am happy with my club,” he said.

“I want to be a Premier League manager with Fulham Football Club.”
