Bakary Sako, Jairo Riedewald and Papa Souare were all involved as Crystal Palace Under-23s beat Colchester’s youngsters 4-0 on Monday.
Sako scored Palace’s second goal and came off with 15 minutes to play, while Riedewald, who has not started for the first team since the opening day of the season, was on for about an hour.
Souare, who has been substituted in the second half in recent development-squad matches, got through the 90 minutes, but there was an injury blow for defender Nikola Tavares who limped out of the action after 35 minutes.
The star of the show, though, was former Brentford loanee Sullay Kaikai, who scored a hat-trick.
The first three goals of the game were set up by defender Michael Phillips, whose ball over the top allowed Kaikai to net the opener on six minutes.
Phillips then nodded Kaikai’s corner into Sako’s path to make it 2-0, and cushioned another ball to Kaikai for the third just before the break.
Kaikai completed his treble late on from Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross.
