Zaha among six players eyed by Chelsea but Sancho deal looks unlikely

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is compiling a list of attacking players to target in January – including Wilfried Zaha – according to the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper say Lampard wants Jadon Sancho but that the England international is unlikely to leave Borussia Dortmund during next month’s transfer window.

Alternative signings are therefore apparently being look at, with Crystal Palace star Zaha said to be among them.

Zaha has made it clear he wants to play in the Champions League and the winger has been tipped to leave Selhurst Park sooner rather than later.

The Telegraph say Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey and Villareal’s Samuel Chukwueze are also on Chelsea’s radar along with Timo Werner and former Fulham forward Moussa Dembele.

Chelsea’s transfer ban being lifted has led to speculation about which players they could sign in the new year.

And Lampard has made it clear he is ready to add new faces.

Speaking at a press conference last week, he said: “We want top-calibre players that can improve us. I’m happy with the squad. We have to look to improve if we can. It’s a joint effort – we have a scouting system. We work together.

“I will recommend players I think we can improve us but also fit in with the style and the way we want to go.

“I want people who want to come here and be a Chelsea player and want to win, so that’s what we’ll look for.”
