Tuchel wants Chelsea trio to join him at Bayern

Thomas Tuchel has been tipped to target Chelsea duo Mateo Kovacic and Edouard Mendy after taking over at Bayern Munich.

According to Calciomercato, former Blues boss Tuchel will look to be reunited with midfielder Kovacic and goalkeeper Mendy at the German club.

Tuchel is back in football six months after being sacked by Chelsea, who won the 2021 Champions League during his time at the helm.

Kovacic was a key player under Tuchel, while Mendy’s form dipped after his departure, having previously been excellent.

It comes as no surprise that Tuchel is being linked with Chelsea players after replacing Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked with Bayern second in the league and in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

He has also been linked with Blues assistant coach Anthony Barry, who worked closely with Tuchel at Stamford Bridge and has remained a key part of the backroom staff under current manager Graham Potter.

Reports suggest Tuchel will look to bring in Barry, who is regarded as one of the best young coaches in the game.

Barry, 36, coached at Wigan prior to joining Chelsea in the summer of 2020.

He has also coached at international level, recently taking a role with Portugal having previously worked with Belgium and the Republic of Ireland.
