The slip-up by Borussia Dortmund that could lead to Chelsea getting their man

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been tipped to sign a full-back this summer – and Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi could be an option.

Chelsea have made an enquiry about Hakimi ahead of a possible move, according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Morocco international, 21, has spent the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

The Sunday Mirror say Chelsea are among several clubs interested in signing him if Real are willing to sell.

The newspaper also reports that Dortmund’s loan deal does not include an option to buy Hakimi – and that this could pave the way for other clubs to pounce.

His representatives have “made it clear to Bernabeu bigwigs” that he will only want to stay at Real if he plays regular first-team football, the Sunday Mirror say.

It therefore seems likely that he will move on this summer – and could well end up in London.

He has certainly impressed for Dortmund and the absence of an option to buy him could prove to be a slip-up by the German club.

Hakimi’s contract at Real runs until June 2022 and it reportedly includes a release clause of around £50million.

Real have indicated that they will not make a decision on his long-term future until the end of the season.
