New QPR boss Beale looking to complete double signing

QPR look set to complete their first signing since Michael Beale’s recent appointment as head coach.

According to various reports, the R’s are signing Jake Clarke-Salter on a free transfer following his release by Chelsea.

And he could be joined at Loftus Road by former Brighton left-back George Cox, who is currently with Dutch side Fortuna Sittard.

Clarke-Salter, 24, is a former England Under-21 international, is well known to Beale, who previously coached in the academy at Chelsea.

The defender, who made one first-team appearance for Chelsea, spent last season on loan at Coventry, who were keen to sign him on a permanent basis.

He has also had loan spells at Bristol Rovers, Sunderland, Birmingham and Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem.

Clarke-Salter was linked with a number of clubs, including Leeds, but has opted to join Beale’s side and according to reports he will sign on a three-year contract.

He was well regarded at Chelsea but the number of quality centre-backs at Stamford Bridge meant he was unable to establish himself in the first team and is now set to move on.

Cox, meanwhile, could be on his way back to England from the Netherlands.

West London Sport reports that Rangers have reignited their interest in Cox after being unable to agree a deal to sign him a year ago.
