Chelsea and Spurs reportedly eyeing highly-rated young keeper

Tottenham and Chelsea are reportedly both keen on Derby County’s highly rated teenage goalkeeper Jack Thomson.

The England youth international, 15, is regarded as an excellent prospect, prompting speculation that he could be snapped up by a top Premier League club.

According to The Sun, Spurs and Manchester City are keen on Thomson and there is also some interest from Chelsea, who cannot currently make a move for him.

The sanctions imposed on Blues owner Roman Abramovich mean the club are unable to sign players or negotiate contracts, although a takeover at Stamford Bridge would pave the way for signings to be made.

Championship strugglers Derby are also waiting for a takeover and the East Midlands club’s financial problems mean they have an urgent need to raise cash.

The Sun therefore suggest Derby could be in for a windfall by agreeing a deal to sell Thomson this summer.

Thompson is on the books of 366 Group, who are involved in a takeover bid for Derby.

Both Spurs and Chelsea have shown a willingness to snap up highly-rated young English players from lower-division clubs and it comes as no surprise that they have been linked with Thomson given his growing reputation.
