Hoddle suggests Lampard is losing patience with Chelsea over transfers

Frank Lampard seems to be losing patience with the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market, according to former Chelsea duo Glenn Hoddle and Joe Cole.

Lampard has repeatedly said the Blues lack ruthlessness in attacking areas and need to strengthen in January.

Chelsea once again failed to make the most of a dominant display in their 2-1 FA Cup win over Hull, missing numerous chances and having to hang on against the Championship club in a nervy finale.

After the fourth-round tie, Lampard said he has to “speak honestly”.

“Recruitment in the short term is very important for us,” he added. “We have to get it right.”

Ex-Blues player-manager Hoddle told BT Sport: “I have not seen him like that before. It was almost like he was making a point.

“He knows what he wants. Whether that will happen we will have to see.“

Cole said Lampard was working hard with the players in training and knows there are ”issues that can be improved”.

But he said Lampard needs to be able to get the ”players he wants” in this transfer window.

“Now is the time to strike because they are fourth in the league,” Cole added.
