Antonio Conte was full of praise for Victor Moses after Chelsea’s triumph at Southampton.
The Blues’ 2-0 victory made it four league wins in a row and took them above Tottenham and back into the top four.
And Moses, whose future looked uncertain prior to the start of the season, again revelled in the role of right wing-back in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation.
“You must have good stamina and quality to play as a wing-back. I ask them to do both offensive and defensive situations,” Conte said at his post-match press conference.
“Moses is a big surprise in this aspect. He is a winger but he is playing in a fantastic way.
“For him it wasn’t easy to play in this way in the English league but I am pleased with him because I can see a lot of positives.
“I also think Pedro, Branislav Ivanovic or Ola Aina can play in this role – like Moses. This role is very important in this system.”
Conte also praised the Chelsea fans who travelled to the south coast.
Around 3,000 made the trip to St Mary’s and made themselves heard throughout.
Conte said: “I want to thank our supporters. They were fantastic from the first minute until the end.
“It was fantastic and I want to thank them; from me and the players. I hope to continue always together.”
