Footage shows Gilmour looking better than ever after his injury

Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is looking sharp following his recent return to training after a knee injury.

Gilmour is hoping to return to action soon after the current international break.

The youngster impressed hugely during his first-team appearances and was making huge strides prior to suffering the injury.

And footage released by Chelsea on Twitter suggests Gilmour is looking better than ever as he closes in on a return to Frank Lampard’s squad.

It shows Gilmour finding the net with two strikes in quick succession, showing the kind of quality that has established him as one of the club’s brightest prospects in years.

Chelsea recently tweeted a picture showing Gilmour training with the rest of the squad

That was greeted with joy by Blues fans, who liked what they saw of Gilmour prior to the injury.

And new footage of Gilmour will no doubt go down very well too.

The injury was an untimely blow but it appears that Gilmour is edging closer to a return.

Speaking at a press conference a couple of weeks ago, Chelsea boss Lampard said he was hoping that Gilmour would return to action this month.

“Billy is working really well,” Lampard said. “He’s probably three or four weeks away from his return.

“He’s working outside with the physios at the moment but we hope to integrate him into training with either ourselves or the Under-21s at some point soon.

“We are probably looking at the other side of the next international break with Billy, all being well.”
