Paper round-up: Chelsea midfielder Loftus-Cheek reportedly ruled out of Liverpool clash

Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been ruled out of the Carabao Cup match against Liverpool, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Loftus-Cheek has so far been overlooked by Blues boss Maurizio Sarri and would have expected to be given a chance to impress in Wednesday’s tie.

However, the Telegraph say he is still struggling with an injury and will not be available for the trip to Anfield.

Chelsea have not confirmed the exact nature of Loftus-Cheek’s injury, but he was unavailable for the recent game against Cardiff City because of a shin problem.

Meanwhile, The Sun say Chelsea look set to miss out Nabil Fekir, with Real Madrid reportedly looking to snap up the Lyon star.

Declan Rice’s contract talks with West Ham appear to have stalled and there is genuine interest in him among top Premier League clubs, according to the Daily Mail.

Rice, 19, reportedly earns just £3,000 a week and is under contract at the London Stadium until 2020.

West Ham are apparently willing to pay him no more than £12,000 a week – an offer which his representatives have flatly rejected, with no sign at the moment of a breakthrough in talks.

Other clubs are said to be monitoring the situation, with question marks now seemingly hanging over the player’s long-term future.

And Arsenal are keen on Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr, according to the Daily Mirror.

Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the Senegal international, who featured for his country in the World Cup.

The Mirror say Sarr is valued at £20m and that Rennes do not intend to sell him in January.
