Chelsea trio set to be offered new contracts

Chelsea are preparing to offer new contracts to N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Jorginho, the Evening Standard reports.

The club are currently in talks to extend the contracts of  defenders Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.

And the Standard say Chelsea are then planning to tie three other key players to new deals at Stamford Bridge.

A contract extension for Jorginho would quell speculation about the midfielder’s future – his agent has continually touted him for a possible return to Italy.

England international Mount has continued to establish himself as a key player for both club and country, while Kante’s influence for the Blues was evident again at the weekend.

Kante helped turn the game in Chelsea’s favour when he replaced Mount at half-time at Tottenham, who caused Thomas Tuchel’s side problems in the first half but were brushed aside in the second.

Afterwards, Blues boss Tuchel said at his post-match press conference: “We allowed too many chances, had easy-ball losses, not enough ball possession and every 50-50 duel was going against us.

“This had to change and if you have N’Golo on the bench and you want to step up these patterns of the game then it’s the best player to bring because he’s unique and he can change any momentum.

“If you have N’Golo you have something that everybody is looking for. You have everything you need in midfield; work-rate, intensity, ball wins, skilful play with the ball and without the ball.

“I see this every day in training and it’s hard to believe how good he is. He’s a unique guy. He’s fantastic.”
