Paper round-up: Arsenal and West Ham linked with World Cup star

Arsenal are being linked with Mexico midfielder Hector Herrera after he impressed for his country at the World Cup.

West Ham are among other clubs to have been linked with Porto’s Herrera, who has been tipped to move this summer.

The Daily Mirror have picked up on reports in Mexico claiming that new Arsenal boss Unai Emery is showing an interest in Herrera following the player’s performances in Russia.

The Express have picked up on Spanish newspaper AS claiming that Arsenal are showing an interest in Real Betis’ versatile defender Junior Firpo.

The 21-year-old, who can play at centre-back, left-back and in midfield, is under contract until 2021 and reportedly has a release clause in his contract of around £22m.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with Nice striker Alassane Plea.

The Sun have picked up on reports in the 25-year-old’s native France claiming that Spurs have made a £23m bid for him.

It comes after French radio station RMC reported that Tottenham were showing an interest in Plea, who has been linked with a number of other European clubs in recent months.

The Times say Ryan Sessegnon and Tom Cairney are set to sign new contracts at Fulham. 

And West London Sport reports that QPR are set to make an approach for Derby County striker Chris Martin.
