Paper round-up: Arsenal reportedly keen to sign Spain defender

Arsenal are eyeing Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso, according to The Sun.

The newspaper say Gunners boss Unai Emery is keen to sign the Spain international, 23, but could struggle to do so if Real Madrid come in for him.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Real want Hermoso and that Espanyol are resigned to losing him.

The Sun also say Arsenal are keeping tabs on Atalanta centre-back Gianluca Mancini and that former Gunners striker Olivier Giroud is closing in on a move from Chelsea to Marseille.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are planning to make a bid for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella, also according to The Sun.

Spurs are said to be looking to offer £35m for the 21-year-old, who has been touted as a possible replacement for Mousa Dembele.

The Sun say Tottenham will face competition from Liverpool, who have also been linked with Barella. The Italy international has been compared to former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard.

Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport recently quoted Barella as saying: “If I had to choose between Serie A and the Premier League, I’d go for England, because I like the way they approach the game.”

And a legal dispute between West Ham and the company that manages the London Stadium will be the first appeal hearing to be live-streamed on YouTube, The Times reports.

The dispute is due to be heard in the Court of Appeal from next week and will be shown live.

Sir Terence Etherton, master of the rolls, said: “This is an exciting way of opening up our courts to help the public understand and see for themselves the way that courts work, and how appeals are heard.”

“If the pilot is successful it will be extended to three appeal hearings.”
