Paper round-up: Arsenal have approach for Man Utd man rejected

Arsenal have reportedly failed with an attempt to land Manchester United defender Eric Bailly.

The Daily Mail say Arsenal boss Unai Emery is keen to bring in Bailly and that the Gunners made an approach to take him on loan for the rest of the season.

The Mail say the move was rejected and that Bailly, who fell out of favour under former United boss Jose Mourinho, will be staying at Old Trafford.

United are said to be keen to keep him – and reluctant to let him join a rival Premier League club.

Meanwhile, Metro have picked up on reports in Italy linking Arsenal with Juventus’ highly-rated young goalkeeper Emil Audero.

The Italy Under-21 international is currently on loan at Sampdoria and his Juve contract is due to expire this summer.

It is claimed that Arsenal are considering signing him as a replacement for Petr Cech, who will retire at the end of the season.

Arsenal have investigated the possibility of signing Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez on loan, the Independent reports.

The Daily Star claim Real would rather agree a deal with Tottenham for the Colombia star as a so-called sweetener ahead of a possible move for Christian Eriksen, who continues to be linked with the Spanish club.
