Paper round-up: Deal seemingly close for Arsenal to sign Argentina star

Ever Banega’s agent has flown to London, seemingly to tie up a deal for the Argentina midfielder to join Arsenal.

The Sun have picked up on reports in Spain that discussions are set to take place ahead of a deal for Banega to move to the Emirates Stadium from Sevilla.

He previously played under Arsenal boss Unai Emery at Sevilla and Valencia and reportedly has an £18m release clause in his contract, which the Gunners are apparently ready to trigger.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are set to beat Arsenal and Chelsea to the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic, according to The Sun.

Crystal Palace are hoping to clinch the signing of ex-Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke on loan from Liverpool, the Daily Mail reports.

The Mail say Huddersfield and Palace’s bitter rivals Brighton are also keen to snap up the England Under-21 international, who will apparently make a decision this weekend.

The Guardian, however, suggest he has already decided – and is set to join Palace rather than Brighton.

Bayern Munich are set to make a £13m bid for Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to the Mail.

Aston Villa have reportedly pulled out of a deal to sign Chelsea’s Gary Cahill because of the cost involved.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Championship club scrapped a plan to re-sign the ex-Villa defender after discovering that even a six-month deal could cost up to £4m given the wages and loan fee involved.

And PSV Eindhoven forward Hirving Lozano is one of Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri’s top targets, it is claimed.

The Daily Express have picked up on Italian publication Calciomercato claiming that Chelsea and AC Milan are competing to sign him.
