Alexis Sanchez will be assessed ahead of Arsenal’s game at Manchester United on Saturday, while Hector Bellerin is expected to be sidelined for four weeks.
Arsenal had hoped that Sanchez, who has been nursing a hamstring problem, would not feature for Chile against Uruguay this week.
He did play in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier, scoring twice in his country’s 3-1 win before being substituted late in the game.
Sanchez has indicated that he will be fit for this weekend’s match at Old Trafford and Arsenal appear to be optimistic that he will be available.
But boss Arsene Wenger, speaking at a press conference on Thursday morning, said Sanchez will be monitored in training on Friday before a decision is made on whether the player will be included for the trip north.
Wenger said: “In the end they decided to play him. He tells us that he’s in good shape after the game – he came off after 84 minutes.
“Now we have to wait and see him tomorrow morning and see if he will be in the squad or not.
“What I will consider is the risk of injury, because he played (while) recovering from a hamstring injury, and the way he feels as well.
“On that front you depend a lot on the honesty of the players; how they feel and how they recover.”
Sanchez’s absence would pave the way for Olivier Giroud to start at United.
Right-back Bellerin, meanwhile, is struggling with an ankle injury he picked up during the final seconds of the recent north London derby against Tottenham.
