Arsenal reportedly set to sign Paraguay star

Arsenal will sign Paraguay striker Miguel Almiron in January, the Daily Mirror say.

The 24-year-old has scored 12 goals this year for Major League Soccer side Atlanta United, who are reportedly set to sell him to the Gunners.

The Mirror say Arsenal will pay £15m for Almiron and that he will move when the MLS season ends in December and be available for the Gunners when the transfer window in England reopens in January.

Almiron will apparently miss the remainder of the regular season in the States after limping out of Saturday’s 2-1 win over New England Revolution.

Atlanta are managed by former Barcelona and Argentina boss Tata Martino, who believes the standard of the MLS is underrated and that the perception of it will be changed by Almiron.

The Mirror quote him as saying: “The moment when Miguel Almiron leaves and goes to your country then I think there will be a different view of MLS.”
