Arsenal reportedly close to keeper deal

Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer.

The Sunday Express is among a number of UK newspapers to have picked up on reports Unai Emery’s native Spain that the Gunners boss is set to take Sommer to the Emirates Stadium.

Talks between Arsenal and Monchengladbach are said to be at an advanced stage.

Meanwhile, The Sun on Sunday say Italian club Roma are considering making a bid for Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech.

The former Chelsea man has been touted as a possible replacement for Brazil international Alisson, who recently left Roma to join Liverpool.

Cech has also been linked with a possible return to Chelsea, where there are doubts over the future of keeper Thibaut Courtois.

Courtois, who has been offered a new deal by Chelsea, has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid, while Cech’s future at Arsenal is in doubt following the Gunners’ signing of Bernd Leno.

Cech’s agent Viktor Kolar recently played down reports that a move could be in the pipeline.

Kolar was quoted as saying: “It is always busy during every transfer window around Petr Cech, as a great Premier League person. However, he maximally focuses on the new season at Arsenal, no specific offer is available.”
