Leeds move for Chelsea youngster Bate

Leeds United are reportedly set to sign teenage midfielder Lewis Bate from Chelsea.

The youngster is highly rated and has a year remaining on his contract, but negotiations over a new deal appear to have broken down.

Other clubs have shown an interest in Bate, including West Ham, but he is reportedly heading to Elland Road.

The Daily Mail has reported that there is interest from the Hammers as well as Liverpool and Southampton.

The Athletic, meanwhile, say West Ham have made Chelsea an offer for him.

But Bate is expected to move to Yorkshire – and is not the only Chelsea youngster on his way out of the club.

Belgian club Genk are on course to sign striker Ike Ugbo this week, reports suggest.

Both Fulham and Watford were linked with Ugbo but he has chosen to stay in Belgium, where he has impressed during a loan spell with Cercle Brugge, scoring 16 goals in 32 league appearances last season.

That fine form attracted interest from a number of clubs and the player is now set to cut his ties with Chelsea.

Ugbo is a product of Chelsea’s academy but has not made a first-team appearance for the club, although he did pick up experience on loan at Barnsley. MK Dons and Scunthorpe prior to him heading to Belgium.

And West London Sport reports that Brentford are set to complete the signing of teenage midfielder Myles Peart-Harris.

The 18-year-old has a year remaining on his Blues contract and has been with Chelsea since the age of eight.
