Several clubs join Tottenham in monitoring Swiss youngster

Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig have all registered an interest in signing Young Boys midfielder Denis Zakaria, who has been tracked by Tottenham this season.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino asked for regular reports on Zakaria and the club have been monitoring his progress in recent months, although they currently have no plans to make an approach for him during this summer’s transfer window.

Pochettino wants to add another combative midfielder to his squad before next season to deputise for Victor Wanyama and Spurs have been watching several possible signings.

Zakaria is a 20-year-old Switzerland international who has also been watched by Liverpool and Manchester United as well as Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus this season.

He made his debut for the Swiss national side ahead of Euro 2016, where he made the squad but did not make an appearance.

Zakaria is of Congolese heritage but was born in Geneva and came through the youth ranks at Servette. He was snapped up by Young Boys in 2015.
