West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini has denied reports he is set miss the whole of next season.

Lanzini has insisted he hopes to return to action early next year after suffering knee ligament damage on international duty with Argentina.

The 25-year-old, who was ruled out of the World Cup, said surgery on the injury had been successful.

Newspaper reports had suggested he was expected to miss the whole of the 2018-19 campaign.

He posted on Twitter: “Some English media have said that my injury will make me miss next season, that there were problems with the surgery… none of this is true.

“The surgery went really well. Although I don’t want to set a date, I expect to be ready to play at the beginning of 2019. Thank you.”

Lanzini was a key player for West Ham as they battled to Premier League safety under David Moyes, who has since been replaced as manager by Manuel Pellegrini.

Several clubs, including Liverpool, have been linked with the player in recent months amid speculation over his long-term future.
