West Ham prospect makes loan move

Wigan have signed West Ham youngster Marcus Browne on loan for the rest of the season.

Browne, who has made one senior appearance for the Hammers, has impressed for the club’s development side and several League clubs expressed an interest in signing him on loan.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been part of the first-team squad for a number of matches this season and is regarded as one of West Ham’s best prospects.

Wigan manager Warren Joyce told the Championship club’s website: “Marcus is a young player with great potential and will strengthen our group.

“We have been watching him and had no hesitation in bringing him here once we found out there was a chance of something being agreed.”

Wigan have also signed Fulham midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe on loan for the remainder of the campaign.

Both players were signed in time for them to be eligible to play in Saturday’s match against Brentford.

Tunnicliffe, 24, has previously been on loan at Wigan and worked with Joyce when the player was at Manchester United, where the Latics boss was on the coaching staff.

“Ryan has got a terrific attitude first and foremost,” Joyce said. “He has been educated through the United Academy and he is a player I always thought would do well.

“He has built up considerable experience now in this division and we are confident he can be a really positive influence to the group in the immediate future.”
