West Ham back in talks with Pastore

West Ham have resumed talks over a potential deal to sign Javier Pastore.

The Hammers are keen to bring in Argentine midfielder Pastore, having recently made an approach to Paris St-Germain.

Talks with the player broke down because of his wage demands but negotiations have restarted and appear to be progressing.

He is well liked by recently-appointed Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini, who wants to persuade him to move to London.

PSG are open to offers for the 28-year-old as they need to cut costs in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. It is thought that Pastore would cost around £18m if personal terms can now be agreed.

He is among several players lined up by West Ham, who are keen to revamp their squad before the start of the new Premier League season.

Former Manchester City boss Pellegrini has been promised money to spend and enquiries have been lodged about numerous players.

“Maybe a lot of people are thinking about defenders because last season West Ham had the worst defensive record in the league, so we must arrange that, but we must also have a balanced squad and not just a team,” Pellegrini told the club website.

“We have time over the next two months to see which better players we can bring here.”
