West Ham looking to sign former Chelsea star Kante

West Ham are looking to sign former Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.

The 33-year-old midfielder joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad last summer after his Chelsea contract expired.

He spent seven years at Stamford Bridge, during which he won the Premier League, Champions League and Europa League as well as the Fifa World Club Cup and the Uefa Super Cup. He was a key player for the Blues and a popular figure among fans.

But he was plagued by injury problems prior to his departure and managed just six Premier League appearances the season before last, having been sidelined from August to April.

However, his performances for France at the Euros suggested he is still capable of playing at the top level – and West Ham are interested in bringing him back to the Premier League.

His huge impact during his time in England cannot be disputed. He was a star performer for Leicester when they won a shock league title and he was then instrumental during a successful period for Chelsea.

As Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley put it in a joint statement when he left: ‘N’Golo’s impact and influence during his time at Chelsea cannot be overstated.

“His tireless performances in midfield contributed to several trophy wins and has guaranteed him a place in the club’s history.”
