West Ham boss Moyes linked with Everton return

West Ham manager David Moyes is being linked with a return to Everton.

It follows the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, who has left Goodison Park to return for a second spell as Real Madrid boss.

It leaves Everton looking for a replacement – and the Daily Mirror say Moyes is on their radar.

Moyes spent 11 years as manager of the Merseyside club before leaving to take over at Manchester United.

Last season, in his second spell at West Ham, he guided the club to a Europa League place.

They challenged for a Champions League spot until the final stages of the season and have been expected to hand Moyes a new contract.

But with the Scot yet to put pen to paper, there is speculation that he could leave and go back to Everton.

Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti said in a statement when his Real appointment was confirmed that it was an “unexpected opportunity” he was keen to take.

The Italian added: “I have complete respect for everyone associated with Everton and hope they can achieve the exciting opportunities they have in front of them.

“While I have enjoyed being at Everton I have been presented with an unexpected opportunity which I believe is the right move for me and my family at this time.”

In a statement, Everton said they “will begin the process of appointing a new manager immediately”.
