West Ham boss David Moyes is keen to add to his squad when next month’s transfer window opens.
Wednesday night’s 2-0 derby defeat at Arsenal meant the Gunners replaced Moyes’ side in the top four.
The Hammers have hit a bad patch after an impressive start to the season – and injury problems have not helped their cause.
Moyes is therefore hoping to bring in reinforcements in order to boost the pursuit of a top-four finish.
He was asked at his post-match press conference after the loss to Arsenal if he is expecting a busy January.
He replied: “I don’t know if I’ll be busy but I would like to try and add to the squad.
“We went into the game in fourth, which is a great position for us – we weren’t in that position this time last season.
“The players have performed brilliantly well but we are in a time when we’re not playing very well and the injuries have not helped.
“If we can add people in January who will make a difference then we will try to do so.”
West Ham have now won just one of their past six Premier League matches and are only three points clear of seventh-placed Tottenham.
