West Ham and Watford tracking QPR star Manning

West Ham and Watford have joined the race to sign QPR star Ryan Manning.

Newcastle and Southampton have both recently been linked with the 23-year-old Irishman, who has impressed in the Championship.

London Football News understands West Ham and Watford have also been alerted to Manning’s possible availability, with the player in the final year of his contract at Loftus Road – although West London Sport have reported that QPR have an option to extend that contract for a further year.

Manning was signed by QPR from his hometown club Galway United in 2015.

Having made the breakthrough to first-team level under Ian Holloway, he was out of favour under Steve McClaren and spent the first half of last season on loan at Rotherham UNited.

Despite being recalled last January, he continued to be overlooked. But following the sacking of McClaren he was converted from a midfielder to left-back and produced some impressive performances there towards the end of last season.

He has continued to impress at left-back this term, attracting the interest of Premier League clubs as a result.

Football Insider claimed that Southampton are confident of a “cut-price deal” to sign Manning and the following day claimed that Newcastle are also in the hunt to sign him.
